Welcome to Brody’s Brainiacs – Brody’s much-loved quiz evening, bringing playful rivalry and questionable genius to the city since 2017.
Hosted by the ever-unflappable Dez O'Connell, Brainiacs has become a staple of the Brody calendar over nearly a decade. It’s not about being the biggest or the loudest — it’s about clever questions, confident guesses, and the kind of atmosphere that keeps teams coming back year after year.
This is not your typical pub quiz. Confidence often outruns knowledge. Googling is very much frowned upon. And smug victories are celebrated as enthusiastically as graceful defeats.

Meet the Host: Dez O'Connell
Brody’s Brainiacs is guided by Scotland-born host Dez O’Connell, who has been part of the Brody story for over a decade.
Before Covid, Dez served as Bar Consultant at Brody House, shaping much of the venue’s beverage identity and curating educational, culture-driven events that blended hospitality with storytelling.
Among the most memorable were:
Alchemist’s Night – an exploration of the culture and history behind classic cocktails
Taste the Music – a playful crossover of music and mixology, pairing drinks with sound and story
With a background that blends hospitality expertise, cultural curiosity, and sharp wit, Dez brings more than just questions to Brainiacs. He brings context, character, and just enough dry humour to keep egos in check.

18:00 – Doors open. Eat, drink, and pretend you’ve revised
20:00 – Brainiacs begins. Thinking caps on
22:00 – Prizes awarded (bragging rights included)

Tickets
3-person team: 8,000 HUF + admin fee
4-person team: 10,000 HUF + admin fee
Teams are limited and the quiz frequently fills up — early booking is strongly recommended.

Dinner is served upstairs before or after the quiz, making Brainiacs the perfect midweek plan in Budapest.
During the game, enjoy table service in the Bunker with drinks and dangerously snackable bites. The short food menu features reliable crowd-pleasers like: Burgers, Fries, Nachos
